Men’s Track Heads to Bucknell to Face League Foes
April 15, 2016 | Men's Track and Field
Meet Information
The Black Knights performed admirably at the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational at Virginia last weekend despite miserable weather conditions. Kevin Dyer's runs were good enough to earn the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on the men's side. He ran the third leg of the 4x100 relay team that was victorious (40.98) in addition to placing fourth (21.97) in the 200 meter dash. He was the highest placing freshman in the latter event and both times met the IC4A qualifying standard.
Outside of the Patriot League, the meet also features multiple regionally ranked teams in Monmouth, Penn State, Cornell, and Virginia Tech. Additionally, Grand Valley State is ranked third in the nation among Division II schools.
Last year at this event, the Army men posted 11 finishes in the top 15. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will extend late into the night.
"We talk about executing being the key whether it be technically or in terms of performance," said Smith. "I expect improvement as we get closer to the championship meets."

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's track and field team will see some familiar faces this weekend when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., for the Bucknell Outdoor Classic. 89 teams in total will be represented with four teams from the Patriot League in attendance.
HOW TO FOLLOW"We're going to this meet for a number of reasons," said Army Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mike Smith. "The competition will be pretty good, particularly in the distance events. You need to race good people to beat good people.
