LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Army West Point men's track and field team had a number of athletes post IC4A qualifying times on Saturday at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic. It was the first day of the event that will continue into Sunday.
"I have been waiting for some of our men to run at the level at which they have been training and we finally saw that tonight," said Army Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mike Smith.
The Black Knights had four individuals place in the top 36 in the 1500 meter run invite. Trevor Touchton paced the Cadets with a time of 3:46.07 to finish eighth overall and post the best time by an Army runner since 2008. Nickolas Causey placed 23rd (3:52.42), Zach Brehm 25th (3:52.87), and Mikey Singer finished in 36th (3:55.31).
In the unseeded 1500 meter run, Anthony Boswell finished fourth (3:54.43) and Ryan Smathers placed sixth (3:55.16). Each of those two posted IC4A qualifying times as well.

"All the 1500 meter guys raced really well and that is the most important takeaway for me," said Smith. "We are getting better little by little. I have seen that in pracitce but not I am seeing it in their races so I expect that to continue as we hit the championship meets."
The Black Knights continue action tomorrow with the men's pole vault at 11:00 a.m.
