Army is coming off a split with Siena Wednesday evening. After dropping the first game to the Saints 7-6, the Black Knights bounced back to shut out Siena in the nightcap 5-0.
Â
Army moved to 19-12 on the season and has won eight of its last nine games. With the 19 wins this season, head coach Michelle DePolo's career total resides at 198 to put her two shy of the 200-win milestone, the fastest in Black Knights' history. The Cadets are unbeaten in the Patriot League, alongside Lehigh, who each have 3-0 conference records.
Â
"This team is deep and I really do have confidence anyone fulfilling roles and playing their respective position on this team," said head coach Michelle DePolo. "Even if someone isn't in a starting lineup, they not only have the ability to contribute to this team well, but they are continuing to develop as a player."
Â
Alee Rashenskas went five-for-seven on the night to lead the Black Knights with two RBI and one run scored against Siena. She now ranks fifth in the Patriot League with a batting average of .398.
Â
In the conference, Kasey McCravey is first in runs scored with 27. She and Rashenskas are tied for second in hits on the season with 39 apiece.
Â
McCravey tallied two RBI on three hits Wednesday to break the career record for runs batted in at Army with 139, surpassing Alex Reynolds who recorded 137 throughout her career (2010-13).
Â
McCravey has started to climb in the record books nearly halfway through the season. The senior leads the Academy in home runs and RBI with 23 and 139 in her career. McCravey ranks second in career hits (234), runs scored (138), total bases (345) and walks (66), while improving to fourth in at-bats (635), sixth in doubles (40) and third in stolen bases (72).
Â
Colgate resides at 3-14 on the season and opens its Patriot League slate against the Cadets. The Raiders were also in action on Wednesday and fell to Albany 5-1.
Â
The Raiders lead the Black Knights 61-49 in the all-time series. Colgate swept Army in the three-game series in 2015, but Army swept the Raiders 3-0 in the previous year.
