LAST TIME OUT
Army split last weekend's contests with losses to NJIT (4-3) and No. 52 St. John's (4-1) before topping Stony Brook (4-3) and Siena (4-0). Sophomore Michael Nguyen posted the best record in singles at 2-1 but fellow classmate Michael Sienko rallied from down 5-2 in the second set of the Stony Brook match to win 2-6, 7-6, 7-5 win to give the Black Knights the victory. The two also combined for a 6-1 win in the third doubles flight against the Seawolves.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State has been strong over its last five matches, taking four of them. The Vikings have had two individuals splitting the top singles flight in Colton Buffington and Mirko Radosevic with the former competing in that slot last weekend. Buffington is 3-3 in the number one singles flight this spring.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE
The Falcons have struggled over their last five contests, losing all five. The service Academy rival did take the doubles point against nationally ranked Penn three days ago. Jack McCullers and Max Olson paired to take the win in number one doubles.
SCOUTING ROLLINS
Rollins is a Division II squad and despite being winless to start the season are ranked No. 26 in the nation. The Tars play in a notably difficult area as they were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament by third-ranked West Florida in the Regional Final.
SERIES HISTORY
The history against these three schools is limited. It will be the first meeting ever against Cleveland State for Army and just the 10th time the Cadets have faced the Falcons since the series began in 1970. Air Force holds the edge 6-3 in the rivalry.
The Black Knights and Tars have met only once, in 1999, a 5-4 win for Army.
NEXT UP: Saturday, March 26 vs. Lafayette & Holy Cross – Patriot League Opener
Army starts up conference play when it returns to the Lichtenberg Center on March 26. Lafayette and Holy Cross each come to town that day with the first match against the Leopards coming at 9 a.m. The Black Knights are a combined 29-0 versus the two schools under head coach Jim Poling.
