Mortell and McGovern Compete at TCNJ Invitational

EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Two members of the Army West Point women's swimming and diving team competed in the 1650 freestyle at the TCNJ Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey on Sunday afternoon.

Sabrina Mortell and Meaghan McGovern went 1-2 in the mile swim with times of 17:07.13 and 17:17.61, respectively. The duo outswam competitors from schools such as TCNJ, East Stroudsburg University, Bridgeport University and others.

Mortell is coming off of a dual meet against Navy, where she recorded a second place finish in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 4:53.30, The junior also came in third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:09.00.

McGovern placed fourth in the same 500 freestyle against Navy, coming in with a time of 4:57.88. The sophomore placed fifth in the 1000 freestyle by touching the wall in 10:16.87.

The Black Knights will be off until Jan. 6, when they host Lehigh in a dual-meet at Crandall Pool.
