Epps, Riley Score in Win Over Stony Brook

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team used a pair of first-half goals to come away with a 2-0 nonconference victory over Stony Brook on Tuesday evening at Clinton Field.
Army improves to 7-5-1 after the win, while Stony Brook drops to 7-5-2.
Freshman Rex Epps scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season and now ranks tied for first in the Patriot League in the category. He found the back of the net in the third minute to put the Black Knights on the board early before junior Okheem Riley netted a goal in the 43rd minute to add to the host's advantage.
Freshman keeper Justin Stoll stopped a season-high nine shots to preserve his fourth shutout of the year.

- Stoll's nine saves were a career high.
- Senior Nick Williams provided an assist on Epps' game winner and classmate Tanner Vosvick was credited with the assist on Riley's goal.
- With his second goal of 2016, Riley became the fourth Cadet to score multiple goals this season, joining Epps (eight goals), Williams (four goals) and senior Christian Clark (two goals).
- Vosvick was credited with a defensive save after clearing the ball off the line and preventing a would-be goal in the 39th minute.
- The Black Knights improve to 4-2-0 at Clinton Field this year.
KEY MOMENT
- Epps scored just under three minutes into the match to help Army set the tone early. The Black Knights dominated possession early on and controlled a 10-7 advantage in shots at the halftime break.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Epps opened the scoring with a goal just 2:59 into the contest. Epps buried a rebound after Stony Brook's Tom McMahon saved a shot by Williams. The sequence began with a hard shot from Tyler Mitchiner that was saved before Williams and Epps had follow-up attempts.
- Riley edged out a Stony Brook defender to head home a free kick from the right side by Vosvick in the 43rd minute.
