The Black Knights boast one of the most successful records in recent history at 6-1 overall. The Cadets are 2-1 in the Patriot League after defeating Lehigh and Bucknell last weekend.
"I think we need to keep doing what we have been doing," said head coach Mickey Wender. "We have a very ambitious, professional and tough group. We aren't going to do anything different, but we can't let our guard down. We can't afford to slip. It will be a good matchup this weekend, especially against Colgate. We are going to have some great competition this weekend, but more importantly we will have more opportunities to compete and to race at a high level. Every chance to race now is crucial and helps build the athlete's championship performances."
Army tallied 21 first-place finishes and six sweeps in the two meets, and the Black Knights' win over the Bison was the fifth in the all-time series marking the first time in over 20 seasons that the Cadets have accomplished that feat.
Sabrina Mortell was named the AAA Athlete of the Week after winning four distance events over the weekend. Against Lehigh she out-touched the competition in the 1,000 free by six seconds with a time of 10:25.19. Later in the meet she won the 500 free (5:05.20) by just over three seconds.
Opposite the Bison, Mortell pulled out two more first-place finishes. She clocked a 10:26.29 in the 1,000 free and a 5:05.79 in the 500 free.
Molly Mucciarone was tabbed as the Conference Swimmer of the Week by collegeswimming.com Wednesday. She saw action in four relays and four individual events.
The senior sprinter tallied five first-place finishes over the weekend, one runner-up finish and an exhibition time. Mucciarone won the 100 fly both nights and notched a first-place finish in the 50 free (23.68) against Bucknell.
Jorie Mason was first on the 3-meter in both contests. Mason's win over the Bison notched nine critical points for the Black Knights and was a turning point in the meet. Her scores on Friday and Saturday both eclipsed 200 for the first time in her career.
"The team's performance level has been high on the road this season," Wender added. "The women defeated Fordham in their pool earlier this year, and we have been tough and consistent. I think it is tough when you take a bus ride then swim, but I have faith that our team will be ready."
Army defeated Colgate last year 161-127 to tie the all-time series at 11-all against the Raiders. The Black Knights are 8-3 all-time against the Leopards, and have won the last six meetings versus Lafayette.
Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. from Lineberry Natatorium.
