THIS WEEK: FINAL LEAGUE WEEKEND OF 2015
Army looks to continue its recent league success going into the holiday break with a visit to American International for two games this weekend. Friday night's game is set for 7:05 p.m., while the second game of the weekend is a 4:05 p.m. puck drop at the Olympia Ice Center. The Yellow Jackets will have had 10 days off between games as they were last on the ice against Bentley on Dec. 1. They are 2-13-0 overall and 2-8-0 in league play, which puts them in the 11th spot in the standings. Their wins have come against league-leading Robert Morris and Niagara, but American International has gone scoreless in their last two games. The Yellow Jackets had a tough start to the year with losses in their first eight games.
NEXT TIME OUT: HOLIDAY MATCHUP AGAINST MERRIMACK
The Black Knights return to the ice on Dec. 29 against Merrimack at Tate Rink. The Warriors were ranked in the 16th spot in the USCHO.com National Poll last week, but have been blanked in two of their last three games. Top-ranked Providence swept Merrimack last weekend, including a 4-0 shut out on Saturday night. The other shut out came against Union on Nov. 28, which was also a 4-0 decision. The Warriors will play twice before the holiday with a visit to UConn on Dec. 11 and a home game versus Canisius on Dec. 20.
LAST WEEK: UNBEATEN STREAK MOVES TO FOUR GAMES
For the first time since 2011, Army swept a weekend league series with a pair of wins over Sacred Heart in a home-and-home series. The Black Knights received their gamewinner in the first game from Nick DeCenzo with 37 seconds left in the game for a 4-3 win. At Tate Rink the next night, they trailed 2-0 after the first period, but fired back with five unanswered goals to earn a 5-2 decision to sweep the Pioneers. C.J. Reuschlein led the way with three points on a goal and two assists. With the two wins by the Black Knights, they are now tied for fifth in Atlantic Hockey with Air Force after earning 10 points in 12 games.

HEATING UP
Ryan Nick continued his best start of his career with three more points, including two more goals. He is now tied for the team lead in goals with five after coming into the season with one career tally. He assisted on Army's second goal in the 4-3 win on Friday and recorded the third goal of the night, which gave the Black Knights a 3-2 lead in the second period. Nick fired home his fifth of the year on Saturday and it was Army's first goal of the night and started a five-goal outburst in the 5-2 win.
POWER PLAY CONSISTENCY
The Army power play has been extremely effective this season as the Black Knights are averaging a goal on the man advantage each game. They are at a 22.2 percent success rate heading into the weekend, which is third in the conference. Army has six goals on its last 20 man advantage opportunities in their last four games. Conor Andrle, Joe Kozlak and Trevor Fidler are tied for the team lead in power play goals with two apiece.
WHO'S GOING TO SCORE?

Brendan McGuire, Ryan Nick and Clint Carlisle share the team lead with three apiece, while 10 teammates have found the net this season. Taylor Maruya joined the crowd with his first-career goal coming in the 2-2 tie at Canisius on Nov. 27. Maruya's goal was nice tip-in from out front on a Tyler Pham shot. He is one three rookies to have goals this season as Trevor Fidler and Tipper Higgins have also found the back of the net.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
American International enters the weekend with a 2-13-0 record overall and a 2-8-0 mark in conference play. The Yellow Jackets have dropped their last two matchups with losses to Holy Cross and Bentley on the road. Their two wins have come against Robert Morris and Niagara, both coming on the road. American International has scored just over two goals a game and has given up 4.8 per contest. The Yellow Jackets have give up five or more goals in nine games, but have allowed six in the last three games.
Junior Austin Orszulak leads the way with 10 points on five goals and five assists. He is either at the top or shares the lead in all three categories. Sophomore Johno May and rookie Shawn McBride are second on the team with nine points each. The pair has two power play goals apiece for the most on the Yellow Jackets.
In net, sophomore Alex Murray has appeared in 11 games with 10 starts. He has a 2-8-0 record in the 10 starts with a 3.88 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. Murray made 32 saves against Bentley in his last start, but took the loss with a 1-0 defeat on Dec. 1. Hunter Leisner has seen action in five games as the backup and is winless in those five starts.
SERIES HISTORY
Army and American International have played 88 games since the first meeting in 1954. The Black Knights own a 58-23-6 advantage over the Yellow Jackets. Coming into the last two meetings, the series was a competitive one with three straight games decided by a goal, but the last two have been lopsided victories. Army dropped a 4-0 decision on Feb. 27 to American International, but returned to West Point and downed the Yellow Jackets in convincing fashion with a 5-1 win.
