Golf Completes Round One in Texas
October 23, 2015 | Men's Golf
ROUND ONE RESULTSÂ |Â ROUND TWO TEE TIMES
EL PASO, Texas – The Army West Point golf team combined for a three-over score of 291 after the first round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational hosted by UTEP at the Butterfield Trail Golf Course.
"We had some guys play well today, but there were too many mistakes on the short par four and par five holes where we should have capitalized," said head coach Brian Watts. "We didn't manage our golf ball well enough to shoot the numbers needed on the course today. We will have tough weather conditions tomorrow, so par will be a great number. We look forward to the challenges and hopefully will bounce back with some good scores."
Â
Host UTEP leads the field after day one at 15-under. New Mexico State, St. Mary's and Kansas are all tied for second with 279 strokes each.
Â
Dean Sakata leads the Black Knights after carding a two-under score of 70 on the first 18-holes to rank T18. Nick Turner is T50 at one-over and is followed by Marcus Plunkett and Peter Kim who both recorded 74 strokes. Parker Harris went six-over on the day.
Â
The second round will begin tomorrow, Oct. 24, at 8 a.m. (MT), with an 8:15 shotgun start for the third round on Sunday.
Â
Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.
