Gillian McCarren joined the Army West Point Athletic Association in September 2019 and serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
McCarren works with Army's men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs where she collaborates with coaching and strength staffs to reduce injury risk and develop rehabilitation programs for cadet-athletes.
Prior to her time at West Point, McCarren was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Ohio University from 2017-19. While in Athens, Ohio, she worked with the softball program that won the MAC Tournament in 2018 before going on to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
While at Ohio University, Gillian earned her Master of Science in athletic training in 2019 and completed thesis research on knee kinetics and kinematics in military specific dual-task marksmanship. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in athletic training with a minor in women’s & gender studies, from Towson University in 2017.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds additional certifications as an Orthopedic Physician Extender and Functional Movement Training provider.
Gillian resides in New Windsor, N.Y., where she spends her free time volunteering with animal rescue organizations.
