Former lacrosse standout, Major Matt Luyster (USMA '06) returned to Army West Point as Director of Lacrosse Operations as part of Head Coach Joe Alberici's staff in 2015.
Luyster was recently promoted to Major on March 1.
Luyster joined the staff after earning his Master's degree in Business Administration at Wake Forest University in 2015.
Prior to going to Wake Forest, Luyster commanded Alpha Battery of the 3rd Battalion, 319th Aiborne Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Previous assignments also include Athletic Liaison Officer at West Point, NY, Platoon Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader at Camp Casey, Korea, Fire and Effects Advisor in Basrah, Iraq, and Battalion Fire Direction Officer at Fort Bragg, NC
Luyster was the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and was a honorable mention All-American and team captain as a senior in 2006. He was a three-time All-Patriot League performer on defense for the Black Knights.

Major Luyster is married to the former Jaimelynne Mula of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
