Sean Byrne & Evan Plunkett Named 2026 Tewaaraton Top 25 Finalists

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Army West Point men's lacrosse seniors Sean Byrne and Evan Plunkett earned recognition as Top 25 Finalists for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award as announced Thursday by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
The Tewaaraton Award is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female college lacrosse players in the United States and is considered the sport's premier individual honor.
The recognition marks Plunkett and Byrne's second consecutive selection as Tewaaraton Top 25 Finalists after the duo earned selection to the 2025 edition of the list alongside Jackson Eicher and AJ Pilate.
Sean Byrne | Senior | Goalkeeper | Acworth, Ga.
Sean Byrne was an initial selection to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List alongside Plunkett in February. Byrne has been a stalwart presence in goal for the Black Knights for the past two and a half seasons as Army's primary goalkeeper with an impressive senior campaign in progress. The Acworth, Ga. native has tallied a career-high 153 saves, a .602 save percentage, and an 8.67 goals against average (GAA) across 12 games played. His save percentage stands second in the nation this season while his GAA stands seventh in the nation and his saves per game tally of 12.75 ties for 11th in the nation.
Evan Plunkett | Senior | Midfield | Roswell, Ga.
Evan Plunkett, a selection to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List in February along with Byrne, has helped lead Army through incredible feats in his four years with the team and now leads the Black Knights with 46 points and a team-high 27 assists. The Roswell, Ga. local stands sixth in the league for points per game and third in the league for assists per game. Plunkett's prowess has propelled Army to success across his four years of action on the field to the tune of 87 career assists – the fifth most by any player in Army program history – and 170 career points – the 12th most of any player in Army program history to mark him the highest scoring midfielder in program history. Plunkett's scoring proficiency has helped Army out-score its opponents 232-145 through 12 games in 2026 and saw him drafted fourth overall in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft by the Denver Outlaws.
