Track and Field Concludes Busy Weekend of Competition

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point track and field program wrapped up a busy weekend of competition, as it sent athletes to the Crimson Open at Harvard and the Valentine Invitational at Boston U.
Valentine Invitational
On the track, Trey McGinnis kicked things off with a third-place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 6.89. The junior runner also finished third in the 200m at 21.32.
Ammon Smith won the 800m at 1:49.27, while Todd Worth finished sixth at 1:50.64. Also posting a strong finish in the event was Jack Musgrave, who finished 15th. In the 800m invite, Kasen Jeitz finished ninth.
In the field events, Grant Hymas and Jacob Farmer posted fourth and fifth place finishes in the pole vault. Robby Manse dominated the throwing events, recording a first-place finish in both the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, Matthew Palchak finished just behind Manse in second.
On the women's side, Jordan Hecht finished first in the shot put at 15.91. Sara Sahadi finished fifth at 14.08m. The Black Knights picked up a pair top five finishes in the weight throw, as Kiana Emerson. (4th) and Emilia Labruyere (5th) had strong performances. Elce Walsh finished fourth in the pole vault at 3.60m.
Crimson Open
In the men's track events, Jeitz finished second in the 400m with a time of 48.19. Smith recorded a win in the 500m, while Musgrave finished in fifth. In the 1000m, Adam Furman finished in third place, while Christan Bachmann finished just behind him in fifth.
Junior Gavin Hansen finished in the top spot in the 5000m, with a time of 14:25.79.
In field events, Griffin Frankfather was third in the pole vault open at 4.30m.
On the women's side, Skye Chambers kicked things off by winning the 400m with a time of 56.34. Mikayla Cheney finished just outside a podium spot in fourth in the 800m.
The Black Knights dominated the 5000m run, taking the top four spots. Leah Richardson won the race at 17:22.64, while Abigail Garner, Katherine Merritt and Abigail Ringwood followed behind her.
Walsh won the pole vault open, reaching 3.65m.
