Wrestling Heads to Franklin & Marshall for David Lehman Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – Army West Point wrestling heads to the Keystone State for the 2026 David H. Lehman Franklin & Marshall Open.

Action from the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center will commence at 9:00 a.m. and run all day through its completion.Â

Army is sending 20 wrestlers to the competition, including ranked competitors Ethan Berginc and Wolfgang Frable.

Army is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga last weekend. Overall, the Black Knights put six on the podium, highlighted by Gunner Filipowicz finishing second at 165 lbs, the third career Southern Scuffle final for the Georgia native.

2025 F&M Open Rewind
Brady Colbert took the 285 lb championship at last year's event.Â

The Manassas, Va. native went 5-0 across his title quest, securing falls in the opening two rounds over Logan Marissal of Harvard and Cleveland State's Shane Cook. He then dispatched top-seeded David Szuba by decision in the quarterfinals and won by technical fall over Brown's Alex Semenenko—the No. 4 seed.

Colbert won the heavyweight championship by forfeit over Cleveland State's Daniel Bucknavich.

Six additional Black Knights appeared on the podium. Ethan Berginc placed second at 133 lbs, with a 5-1 record Friday and two bonus point wins. The junior also defeated Tucker Owens of Air Force in the Round of 16.Â

Cooper Haase finished fourth at 174 lbs, picking up two of Army's four wins over service academy rivals. After pinning Navy's Liam Kilrain in his opening bout, Haase finished his day with a win over Air Force's Jack Ganos in the 174 lb third place match.Â

Charlie Farmer (125 lbs), Trae McDaniel (157 lbs) and Jakob Gilfoil (184 lbs) each collected fourth place finishes.Â

Nain Vazquez meanwhile finished fifth at 125 lbs. He also picked up a win over an Air Force opponent, defeating Bubba Wright by decision of the consolation round of four.
