Kohlhofer Wins David Lehman Open at Franklin & Marshall
January 09, 2026 | Wrestling
LANCASTER, Pa. – For the second consecutive season, an Army West Point wrestler won the David Lehman Franklin & Marshall Open heavyweight title.
364 days after Brady Colbert begun his post-New Year's run to the NCAA Championships as a plebe, senior Austin Kohlhofer secured his first career tournament title, going 5-0 Friday and defeating Columbia's Vincent Mueller in the final, featuring a full period ride in the second period.
All but one of the Ohio native's wins were by decision, with a fall over Rutgers' Hadyn Packer in the Round of 16.
Overall, seven Black Knights made the podium.
Charlie Farmer went 4-1 Friday and finished second at 125 lbs. Three bonus point wins—including a pin over Hofstra's Teague Strobel—placed him in the title bout, before falling by decision to Penn's Davis Motyka.
Kohlhofer's fellow heavyweight Lucas Stoddard took fourth place, going 4-2. The junior's afternoon featured a win over Air Force's Rylan Kuhn in the Round of 16, before Columbia's Mueller took him out of championship contention in the semifinals to prevent an all-Army final.
Cooper Haase's only blemish of the day was a close defeat in the Round of 16 to Columbia's Nick Fine; Haase would go on to take fifth place at 174 lbs.
Fellow 174-pounder Andrew Christie went 5-2 and was one of three sixth place finishers Friday, with Conor Collins (141) and Wolfgang Frable (197) joining him. For Frable, only a quarterfinal sudden victory setback to NC State's Cason Howle stopped a run for a potential title.
