Hockey Falls 3-0 in Game Two at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Army West Point hockey (10-12-5, 5-11-3 Atlantic Hockey America) fell 3-0 in the second game of its road series at Holy Cross (12-12-2, 10-6-2 Atlantic Hockey America) on Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, the Black Knights fell 3-0 to the Crusaders on the road for their third consecutive AHA series split.
JJ Cataldo stood in goal for the Black Knights, holding the Crusaders to a scoreless first period and totaling 29 saves against Holy Cross' 32 shots on goal.
Holy Cross sent Danick Leroux out to face the Black Knights in game two where he put up 33 saves against Army's 33 shots on goal.
The two teams settled in for a tense battle in the second game of the series after game one went to overtime at the Hart Center Rink.
Army led the puck battle in the first period with 12 shots on goal to Holy Cross' eight, led by Adam Marshall with three.
Both teams earned power play opportunities in the first period with a brief five-on-three chance for Army as the clock approached the end of the first period, but big performances from Cataldo and Leroux held the game scoreless going into the second frame.
The Black Knights held the edge in the second period, leading the shots on goal differential 12-11 in the second frame, but the home ice advantage played in Holy Cross' favor when the Crusaders found their way into the back of the net on the power play with just over three minutes remaining in the period.
The momentum remained in Holy Cross' favor as the third period began and the host team struck again just two minutes and 12 seconds back into the action.
The two teams fought voraciously throughout the third period with Army searching for the chance to get on the scoreboard.
Leroux stood tall in goal for Holy Cross, holding the Black Knights off despite their aggression until the Crusaders could expand their lead to three in the final minute of play to secure their victory.
