WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Wrestling will take on Bucknell at Christl Arena on Saturday, in a move from the previously scheduled Sunday dual due to anticipated winter weather in the Hudson Valley area.
Â
FloWrestling will stream Saturday's matchup.
Â
The Black Knights are fresh off a 22-17 win over the American Eagles, the first career Army win for first year Class of 1972 Head Men's Wrestling Coach Troy Nickerson.Â
Â
Army recovered from dropping the initial three bouts, winning five of the ensuing six individual matches. All but one of the Black Knights' wins came in bonus point fashion.Â
Joseph Antonio got the Black Knights on the board in the dual with a technical fall at 157 lbs, with three takedown points to win 18-3 over Kaden Milheim right as the second period was about to expire.
Â
Gunner Filipowicz provided Army with its second consecutive technical fall at 165 lbs, narrowly missing out on a pin midway through the second period but tallying the back points to end the bout with a 17-2 win over Austin Craft.Â
Â
Cooper Haase gave Army its first lead of the dual at 174 lbs, with riding time being the factor in clinching an 11-4 major decision at the buzzer over Hunter Hohman, putting the Black Knights ahead 14-11 after surrendering the first 11 team points Sunday.Â
Â
While American would even the dual with a Caleb Campos decision over Dave Barrett at 184, Army jumped back on top with Wolfgang Frable's dominant 16-0 technical fall over Teage Calvin at 197 lbs, featuring three separate back point scores from Frable.
Â
In the penultimate bout, Brady Colbert clinched the dual for Army at heavyweight with a 2-0 decision over Emmanuel Ulrich, with an escape point in the second period and a full period ride in the third.
Â
While the Black Knights sit at 1-4 overall, they are 1-0 in EIWA action. All four losses came to ranked opponents.
