10 Football Players Selected to Athlon Sports Preseason Team

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Athlon Sports, a renowned college football publication, recently released its 2025 Preseason American Athletic Conference All-Conference Team and All-Americans.
Army placed 10 players on the list, with Brady Small also receiving All-America honors.

Small and Gennarelli return from a starting offensive line that won the 2024 Joe Moore Award for the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit in College Football—marking the first time a Group of Five school earned the honor. Small started at center, while Gennarelli held down the right guard position.
Fortner—a Knoxville, Tenn. native—started all 14 games, finishing second on the team with 81 total tackles. He led the team with 8.5 tackles for loss and added two sacks.
Thomas led the Black Knights in total tackles (98), solo tackles (48), and assisted tackles (50). The Liberty Hill, Texas native also recorded 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and four passes defended.
Larkin rounded out the first-team honorees, tying for the team lead with four interceptions and finishing fourth in total tackles (51) in 2024.
Reed rushed 40 times for 207 yards and a touchdown and added six receptions for 63 yards and another score last season.
Short appeared in all 14 games, starting 13, and served as a versatile weapon in both the run and passing game—finishing third on the team in all-purpose yards (887) and rushing yards (569), and second in receiving yards (318), while recording three receiving touchdowns and two rushing scores.
Weaver was named to the second team, posted a career-high 36 total tackles (29 solo) and two interceptions in 2024.
Harris-Miller, a third-team selection from Middletown, Del., totaled 29 tackles (17 solo), five tackles for loss, and two sacks.
Mayes was tied for the team lead with four interceptions, led the team with seven passes defensed, and totaled 29 tackles.
