Softball Clinches Patriot League Regular Season Championship

With their 8-0 five-inning game one win against the Colgate Raiders, Army West Point Softball (31-20, 14-2) has clinched at least a share of the Patriot League Regular Season Championship.
With the win, the Black Knight clinched the regular season championship in head coach Jen Counsal's third year as head coach.
Alongside clinching a share of the title, Army clinched the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will serve as the host for the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2010, starting May 8 through May 10.Â
In 2010, the Black Knights under Michelle DePolo finished the Patriot League regular season with a 15-5 overall record but did not earn a postseason championship or an NCAA tournament bid that season.
The last time the Black Knights made an appearance in the NCAA tournament was in 2013.Â
Overall this season, the Black Knights are 11-2 while playing at the Army Softball Complex, with its only losses coming against UAlbany (March 19) and Holy Cross (April 13).
The Black Knights as the No. 1 seed in the tournament will begin its postseason journey on May 8 at the Patriot League Championship, with the hope of earning its first NCAA tournament bid since 2013.Â
