Baseball Concludes Patriot League Play at Bucknell
April 24, 2025 | Baseball
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Army West Point Baseball—fresh off a three-game series sweep this past weekend vs. Lafayette—concludes its Patriot League regular season campaign this weekend at Bucknell.
The series—taking on the form of a classic, three-game affair, will begin with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch Friday. Saturday's game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. before a 12:00 p.m. series finale Sunday.
All games from DePew Field will be streamed on ESPN+.
Notes and Storylines
» Army is winners of four consecutive games vs. the Bison, dating back to its two wins in the conference semifinal series a season ago. Army also swept a doubleheader vs. Bucknell at home March 29.
» The Black Knights took all three games off Lafayette in last weekend's three-game series April 19-20. In Saturday's doubleheader, the Black Knights never trailed, riding home runs from Jack Quinlan and Thomas Schreck, and effective outings from starting pitchers Andrew Berg and Justin Lehman to 5-2 and 9-4 wins.
Trailing by a run in the eighth of Easter Sunday's series finale, Schreck resurrected Army's hopes for a sweep with a two-run double to the left-center wall, giving the Black Knights a 7-6 lead that stood.
» Army currently sits in third place in the Patriot League standings, with three conference to go. The following magic numbers are in effect with conference opponents: Holy Cross (6), Navy (4), Lafayette (1) and Lehigh (1). Army has already clinched a higher spot than Bucknell, and now just needs one of the four numbers listed to hit to clinch a postseason berth. Three of those numbers hitting would secure home field advantage in at least the first round, and all four numbers hitting would result in the No. 1 seed. Any Army win OR opponent loss would bring each number down by one.
Army's three-game series sweep was the first by the program in a series of three or more games since April 22-23, 2023 at Navy. The Black Knights also finished a regular season 5-0 against the same team for the first time since vs. Navy in 2023.
Next Up
Army concludes the regular season at home vs. LIU Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. before hosting Rider for a non-conference series next weekend.
