Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader vs. Lehigh

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Baseball went 2-0 Sunday vs. the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Doubleday Field, improving to 10-7 in Patriot League play, clinching the weekend and season series over the visitors with a game to play Monday, and winning its third and fourth straight contest.
Game 1
A seven-run second inning set the tone for the entire afternoon at Doubleday Field Sunday in a 11-0 Game 1 win.
Zac Farrell launched a two-run home run to open the scoring for Army, before Chris Barr registered an RBI single, Justin Lehman plated two on an RBI double and Jack Quinlan recorded the first two of his six RBIs Sunday. Army totaled six hits across the frame and sent 11 batters to the plate.
Addison Ainsworth homered to right field in the fourth inning to make it 8-0 and followed in the sixth with a two-run single. Quinlan then scored Ainsworth later in the inning to make it 11-0.
On the mound, starting pitcher Andrew Berg allowed 10 baserunners over six innings, but never allowed a run. He struck out seven batters across six innings and earned the win. Mark Abell added two strikeouts in the final stanza of the seven-inning game.
Game 2
Like in Game 1, Army started fast in Game 2 Sunday, but this time had to hold off a Lehigh flurry in the middle innings on its way to a 10-5 win to secure the doubleheader sweep.
Quinlan homered in the second inning to open the scoring in the late contest. Abell and Barr followed with RBI singles in the frame before Ainsworth hit a no-doubter three-run home run to right to make it 6-0.
Lehigh answered in the third inning with three runs and added another in the fourth, but the Black Knights created breathing room in the sixth with a two-run bases-loaded single from Quinlan to make it 8-4.
A solo home run got the Mountain Hawks within 8-5 in the seventh, but two runs in the eighth separated Army permanently. Barr scored the first run of the inning, on a stolen base followed by two throwing errors on the same play after leading off the inning with a walk. Parker would score Ainsworth on a single later in the frame.
Starting pitcher Justin Lehman earned the win with a six-inning appearance. Kevin Reavey recovered from allowing a solo home run to his first batter in the seventh to complete a three-out save, his second of the season.
