Notes and Storylines
Â
» Army has won each of its past three home openers, as well as five of its past seven dating back to 2017.
Â
» SS Thomas Schreck was named Patriot League Player of the Week March 3 after Army's three-game series at Air Force February 28-March 2. Schreck had two doubles in both Saturday and Sunday's matchup. The Needville, Texas native was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs Saturday, before a 3-for-4 afternoon Sunday with four RBIs. Additionally, Schreck also went 1-for-3 in Friday's game with a walk and a triple.
Â
» Freshman John McKillop was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week March 3. McKillop—who made his first career starts Saturday and Sunday—was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple Saturday, and 3-for-5 Sunday with four RBIs. The native of Charlotte, N.C. was placed in the DH slot both games.
Â
» The Black Knight bats were vibrant in the team's three-game series at Air Force February 28-March 2. Army scored eight, seven and 16 runs respectively across the three-game series. Schreck and McKillop each hit .600 across the series. In Sunday's 16-5 run-rule win, Army hit .471 overall, .500 with runners on base and in scoring position, and .571 to lead off innings.
