Baseball Takes Series Finale at Air Force

A six-run first inning set the tone for an explosive afternoon at Erdle Field, with the Black Knights batting around for the first of two occasions and taking a lead they would never relinquish.
Addison Ainsworth opened the scoring with an RBI single, before John McKillop drove in a pair of runs and Thomas Schreck followed with a three-RBI double.
After the Falcons inched closer with two runs in the bottom of the first and three in the third, Chris Barr launched a solo home run in the top of the fourth to put Army ahead 7-5.
Army created permanent significant separation in the fifth inning, with eight runs on seven hits. Michael Delph joined the RBI party before Schreck recorded his second RBI double of the contest.
Barr singled to score Schreck an at-bat later, Justin Lehman drove in Barr, and McKillop had his second two-run knock before Paul Andrzejewski brought home two more runs on a two-out double.
Ainsworth homered to right field in the sixth inning to put a cherry on top of the afternoon.
Starting pitcher Bryce Brownlee tossed 3.1 innings, and recorded a strikeout. Joe Valchar earned the win with a 2.2-inning, four-strikeout afternoon, before Andrew Berg completed the contest with a perfect seventh inning.
By the Numbers
4: McKillop and Schreck had four RBIs each.
2: Barr, Andrzejewski and Ainsworth added two RBIs each.
5: Five Black Knights had multiple base knocks Sunday. Barr was 3-for-6, McKillop was 3-for-5 and Schreck went 3-for-4. Schreck doubled twice for the second consecutive matchup.
.471: Army hit .471 overall Sunday, .500 with runners on base and in scoring position, and .571 to lead off innings.
Black Knight Notes
Lehman made his first career outfield start Sunday, at right field.
Valchar's relief appearance was his 2025 season debut.
Army batted around Sunday for the third consecutive matchup, sending 10 batters to the plate in the first inning and 14 in the fifth inning.
The Black Knights have now won 18 of its past 24 games against academy rivals.
Army's run-rule win is the second in its last four game vs. Air Force.
Next Up
Army will play Fordham next weekend for a three-game series. The Black Knights and Rams will alternate sites, with a series opener in the Bronx Friday at 3:00 p.m. Army's home opener will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, before the teams return to Fordham for the series finale Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
