Men’s Lacrosse’s Plunkett, Coletti, and Pilate Named to Tewaaraton Top 50 Watch List

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Three members of the Army West Point men's lacrosse team have been named to the Tewaaraton Award Top 50 Watch List. Junior midfielder Evan Plunkett, senior faceoff specialist Will Coletti, and senior defenseman AJ Pilate were all recognized among the nation's elite.
The Tewaaraton Award is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female college lacrosse players in the United States and is considered the sport's premier individual honor.
Plunkett, the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, was also named a USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American. A native of Roswell, Ga., he was a unanimous First Team All-American last season and earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024, becoming the first midfielder to win the award since 1997.
In 2024, Plunkett started all 14 games, recording 29 goals and 19 assists. He tallied three or more goals in six games and posted four or more points in nine contests.
Pilate, a senior defenseman from Massapequa, N.Y., was named the Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American. A two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year (2023, 2024), he has been a cornerstone of Army's defense.
Last season, Pilate ranked among the league's top 10 in caused turnovers, finishing with 23, while also collecting 36 ground balls and starting all 14 games.
Coletti, a senior faceoff specialist from Monrovia, Md., was named the Patriot League Preseason Faceoff Specialist of the Year. He also earned USA Lacrosse Preseason Second Team All-American honors and was an Inside Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American.
Coletti had a record-breaking 2024 campaign, securing unanimous All-American honors and being named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year. He set program records for ground balls and faceoff wins, leading the Patriot League and ranking third nationally in total ground balls (107) and ground balls per game (8.23). His .620 faceoff win percentage also led the league and ranked third in the nation.
The Black Knights, ranked No. 13 in the nation in the USILA Coaches Poll, will open their 2025 season on the road against UMass this Saturday, February 8.
