No. 23 Women's Lacrosse Dominates All Phases in 17-3 Win Over Siena

WEST POINT, NY - No. 23 Army West Point women's lacrosse (3-0) took down Siena (0-2) with a complete performance at home by a score of 17-3.
Junior Brigid Duffy matched a career-high with seven goals to lead the effort offensively, as junior Allison Reilly recorded seven points on a pair of goals and five assists. Duffy matched Army's all-time goals record in the win as she is now tied with Jackie Brattan with 131 career goals for the all-time program record.
However, Army's defense was the story as the unit allowed just three goals across the 60 minutes of action.
Lindsey Serafine made eight saves while allowing just three goals to improve to 3-0 on the season in net for the Black Knights. Duffy caused three turnovers while Allison Reilly and Kate Gallagher each notched a pair.
Sarah Chernik led the way in the draw circle, securing seven draw controls for the Black Knights who won 19 of 23 total for the contest. Duffy also added seven draw controls and three ground balls.
Geneva Milch Cesoni, Chloe Garrett and Ryan Remaly also joined Duffy and Reilly as multi-goal scorers in the effort.
For the second straight contest it was Garrett who got Army started on its first possession of the game, scoring an unassisted goal. The teams traded stops until there was 6:37 remaining in the first when Duffy doubled Army's lead off a feed from Reilly before adding her second on a free-position goal less than a minute later. Milch Cesoni deposited a fourth on the woman-up advantage and the Black Knights led 4-0 after one.
The junior trio of Garrett, Duffy and Reilly would each get another to begin the second quarter, pushing Army out to a comfortable 7-0 lead. Siena got on the board with one but iw as answered by three more Army goals as the Black Knights took a 10-1 lead into the half. Serafine made six saves in the opening half hour while allowing just the one goal.
Army came out firing again in the second half as Lily Valentini scored her first of the game off a feed from Garrett before Duffy continued her strong game with her fourth. Tallies from Milch Cesoni and Remaly put the Black Knights ahead 14-2 through three quarters of play.
Winding down the clock, Duffy added two more in the fourth to match her career-high with seven goals. Army's final tally came as Valentini fed Brooke Stocku, who tucked home her first career goal to bring the final score to 17-3.
Army will travel to the University of Colorado next, with its matchup set for Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. MT with the Buffaloes.
