Notes and Storylines
Â
» Army will look to win its fourth straight season-opening game Friday. Since 2022, the program has recorded opening-day wins over Richmond ('22), Air Force ('23) and Monmouth ('24). Since 2019, the Black Knights are 5-1 on opening day, including a win at No. 15 Duke in 2020.Â
Â
» The Black Knights have not played North Alabama before 2025. Army last played a team from the State of Alabama in 2018, when they saw Auburn at the NCAA Raleigh Regional. Per research from Army Athletic Communications, the Black Knights have never played a game inside the State of Alabama before 2025.
Â
» Justin Lehman has been named Patriot League Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Lehman, INF Chris Barr and OF William Parker have each been named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, voted on by conference head coaches and sports information contacts.
Â
Army slotted into first place in the team preseason poll.
Â
» Perfect Game released its own preseason awards and an all-conference team. Lehman was named Pitcher of the Year, and Barr earned Player of the Year accolades. Both players, as well as Parker, made the outlet's Preseason All-Conference Team. Lehman was also named Preseason Pitcher of the Year by D1 Baseball.
Â
» Army returns six position player starters from the 2024 squad. Middle infielders Chris Barr and Thomas Schreck are back in 2025. Outfielders Addison Ainsworth and William Parker will also feature on 2025 lineup cards. Coleson Titus, who saw action at both catcher and designated hitter a season ago, is expected to slot in as the primary catcher. Two-way player Justin Lehman, who pitched, played first base and DH'ed last year, will also factor into the 2025 everyday lineup combinations.
Â
» Head Coach Chris Tracz welcomes 15 plebes into the program this season. 12 members of the freshmen class are pitchers and four are position players, with Michael Delph listed as a two-way player. In addition to the freshmen, sophomore Zane Poulter joins the baseball roster after spending the 2023-24 academic year as a member of the football program.Â
