Men's Basketball Starts Patriot League Play at Lehigh, Hosts Colgate

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (6-7) begins Patriot League play on Wednesday and Saturday, playing a road game against the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks (4-9) before hosting the Colgate University Raiders (6-7).
First, the Black Knights head to the Lehigh Valley and Bethlehem, Pa., on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 12 p.m. ET to take on Lehigh inside Stabler Arena.
Last season, the two teams split the season series, with Army first earning a win at Stabler Arena on Jan. 11, 2025. Lehigh got revenge on March 1, 2025, getting an 89-67 victory over Army to close the regular season.
Then, Army will host its league play home opener inside Christl Arena on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. ET, taking on Colgate.
Army also split the regular-season series with the Raiders last season, with both teams winning on their respective home courts. The two teams also faced off in the 2025 Patriot League Tournament.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME – Army finished its non-conference slate with an overtime win inside Christl Arena against the Binghamton University Bearcats (3-11), 95-85. With the win, the Black Knights improve their record to 10-6 in the series history between the two teams. They also snapped the three-game losing streak against Binghamton. Army has also won three straight games and five of its last six matchups.
FINDING THEIR STRIDE – The Black Knights have won five of their last six games, improving their record to 6-7, after starting the season 1-6. The five wins include wins over FDU, Manhattan, Gallaudet, UMBC and most recently, Binghamton. The only loss that the Black Knights faced during that stretch was a loss to George Washington. Four of the wins come against Div. I opponents, two of the wins came at home in Christl Arena in overtime (Manhattan and Binghamton). Over the past six games, Army has shot 45.3 percent from the floor and 42.8 percent from the three-point line.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY – Junior guard Ryan Curry returns for his third season with the Black Knights and is fresh off winning this week's Patriot League Player of the Week. He leads the Black Knights' offense, averaging 13.7 points a game and 5.0 assists a game. In Army's most recent win against Binghamton, Curry neared a triple-double, finishing the game with 23 points, a career-high nine rebounds and seven assists. Curry hit those numbers while shooting 55.5 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from behind the arc. The junior has scored in double digits in ten games this season and has added 5+ assists in six games this season.
RING THE BELL – Sophomore guard Jaxson Bell played a crucial role off the bench for Army this season, now averaging 10.8 points a game and 15.8 points over the past five games. In Army's most recent game, Bell earned a career-high and game-high 24 points while tying his career-best with six made field goals and five made three-pointers. Against UMBC, Bell earned his first career double-double with a team-high 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Bell finished Army's game against GW with a team-high 15 points. Against Manhattan, Bell finished with 19 points, also adding career-highs in made field goals (6), made three-pointers (5) and minutes (31). Against FDU, Bell finished the game with a team-high 16 points alongside adding a career-high seven rebounds, with eight points coming from the free throw line.
THE SIXTH MAN – Freshman guard Jackson Furman has made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, averaging 10.5 points a game off the bench while averaging 21.0 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high and game-high 20 points against Duke, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman also earned 17 points in his first collegiate game against SUNY Maritime, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000. He earned his first career start against Manhattan and added 11 points against GW and Gallaudet alongside a career-high seven rebounds and three assists. Most recently, he scored 13 points in Army's win over Binghamton.
THE BOOGEYMAN – Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway is currently second on the team in scoring efforts for Army, averaging 10.2 points a game while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor. On November 18, Holloway had a career performance, earning a career-best 22 points on the road against Cornell. He also added career-highs in field goals made (9) and three-pointers made (2). His performance also marked his first 20+ point performance in his career. He finished with 11 points in 15 minutes against Gallaudet. Most recently, he finished with a team-high 12 points at UMBC and has scored in double-digits in seven games this season, the second most on the team.
JORNADO WARNING – Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup and currently averages 9.0 points a game. His most recent double-digit performance was 11 points at UMBC. The senior had a strong showing against Cornell on the road, finishing with a career-best and game-high 24 points, while tying his career-highs in made field goals (8) and three-pointers made (4). He also had a career-high four made free throws. The game marked the second game Everson has scored 20+ points in a single game.
THE WALLET – A key role player for Army, Kevin McCarthy averages 8.7 points a game. In Army's game against Gallaudet, the sophomore sharpshooter matched several career-highs, which encompassed points (18) with field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4) and assists (4). Now, he has scored 4+ three-pointers in four games this season, including the game against Gallaudet, which includes Army's matchups between Maritime, St. Thomas and East Texas A&M. He also earned a season-high six rebounds at Cornell. He has finished five games scoring in double-digits this season.
TATE ON THE BOARD – Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 5.0 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start versus Maritime, eight rebounds against St. Thomas and seven rebounds at Cornell, all three being team-highs. In Army's first two games, he added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas. Laczkowski tied his career-high in points on Nov. 29, earning nine against Manhattan, alongside tying his career-best of two blocks. He matched his career-high of nine points against Binghamton on Dec. 23.

- Nasir Whitlock leads Lehigh and the Patriot League in points a game, averaging 19.6 every contest. He also averages 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game.
- Hank Alvey plays another crucial role for Lehigh, averaging 11.6 points a game and a team-high 7.1 rebounds a game. He also averages 2.2 assists a game, second on the team.
- Joshua Ingram adds a team-high 1.3 steals a game alongside 10.8 points a game, and Caleb Thomas adds a team-high 2.6 assists a game.

- Jalen Cox leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.8 points a game and averaging league-bests with 5.6 assists a game and 2.1 steals a game.
- Andrew Alekseyenko, this week's reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week, averages 14.8 points a game and adds a team-high 5.2 rebounds a game.
- Sam Wright balances out the double-digit scores, averaging 12.2 points a game. Ayomi Odetoyinbo adds 2.0 blocks a game, which is the second-most in the Patriot League.
