October 10, 2025 | Rifle
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Army rifle kicks off its season this weekend, playing in several matches across the weekend. The Black Knights begin the season on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they take on The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., at 8 a.m.
The Black Knights will then travel to Statesboro, Ga., the following day, Sunday, Oct. 12, at 8 a.m., when they face Georgia Southern, North Georgia, and Schreiner.
The Black Knights are led by head coach Leighton Dempster, who enters her fourth year as the team's full-time head coach. Dempster won the GARC Coach of the Year award in the 2023-24 season, leading the squad to its first winning season since 2014-15. She achieved an 8-5 record, marking the most wins since the 2012-13 season.
Army will look to improve upon last season's 6-9 record. The Black Knights finished fifth at the 2025 GARC Championships.
This year's team will be led by co-captains Chris Jennings and Bohan Yang. Jennings, a senior, was among the team's top scorers in both air rifle and smallbore last season, setting a career best with a 594 mark in air rifle. Yang, a junior, was a regular in both disciplines during the winter schedule, firing a career-high 574 in smallbore.
Army also returns sophomore Addison Antwiler, who had an impressive freshman campaign. Antwiler led the team in air rifle with a 596 and earned a qualification to the NCAA Air Rifle Championship.
Army has won all three previous matchups against The Citadel dating back to 2001, including the most recent meeting — a 4,664-4,460 victory in January 2013.
