Cody Worley Recognized as AAC’s Most Efficient Play Caller with 2024 Graphite Award
January 23, 2025 | Football
PARKER, CO -- RII Sports Technology announced its annual 2024 Graphite Award winners recognizing the most efficient offensive and defensive play caller in each Division I football conference. Army West Point's offensive coordinator Cody Worley has been named the winner of the American Athletic Conference.
In his first season as the offensive coordinator, Worley led one of the nation's best and most efficient offensive attacks led by quarterback Bryson Daily.
Worley's offense finished tops in the nation in several major categories.
• 1st in the nation in rushing offense, averaging 300.5 yards per game.
• 1st nationally in time of possession.
• 2nd nationally in passing yards per completion (17.09).
• 3rd nationally in fewest penalties (45).
His offense was orchestrated by his quarterback Bryson Daily who had a record-breaking senior campaign.
Daily led the country with 32 rushing TDs, the most ever in a season by a QB. He became the sixth player in NCAA history to total 30+ rushing touchdowns in a season.
He broke numerous of long-standing Army program records. The Abernathy, Texas native set the single-season record for touchdowns responsible for in a season, rushing touchdowns in a season and rushing touchdowns in a single game. Daily scored six touchdowns, five on the ground and one passing vs. East Carolina (10/19), the first six touchdowns accounted for game by an Army player in 108 years since Elmer Oliphant's six-touchdown day in 1916.
Worley played collegiately at Furman, where as a senior in 2010, he threw for 1,496 yards and accounted for 19 touchdowns. Worley finished his fifth season on the Army coaching staff in 2024, where he has coached the quarterbacks throughout his tenure.
Each year RII Sports Technology analyzes play-by-play data for all Division I FBS football programs and assesses the degree to which offensive and defensive play callers make decisions that best align their team's strengths with their opponent's weaknesses. This assessment is quantified in a Play Calling Efficiency Ratio (PCER) – a measure of how frequently a play caller put their team in advantageous strength-on-weakness positions while minimizing the number of times they operated from a disadvantage.
