Men’s Rugby Set to Take on Life in the D1A Playoff First Round

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point men's rugby team (5-5-1) will head to Marietta, Ga. this weekend to take on the Life University Eagles (9-1) in the first round of the D1A National Championship Playoffs.
The match is set to kick off at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 6th, and will be streamed on FloRugby.com.
ASSESSING THE OPPONENT
Life enters the playoffs as the number two seed in the bracket. The Black Knights currently sit as the number seven seed.
The Eagles have nearly a perfect record as they went 9-1 in the 2023-24 season. Their sole loss came from Navy in October when the Midshipmen defeated them 20-14.
Earlier this season, Life handed Army one of their losses. The Eagles took down the Black Knights on October 28th, 39-24.

Coach Sherman: "We've had two great weeks of preparation, climbing at a rapid rate and I appreciate and applaud our entire teams' efforts and contributions. We feel we're in a position to reach a new best performance, and are determined to earn that new highest level against a formidable Life team that will require it for victory to be earned."
Ben Richards: "We are entering the first round of playoffs this weekend, facing a very skilled Life University. We're looking forward to a very physical game on Saturday, and we know that to achieve victory we must be the more violent and controlled team on the day."
Pat Oglesbee: "I have appreciated every moment of this season. It has been a season of work and resilience. Although our path has not been the straightest, the lessons we have learned along the way are what is going to enable victory over a good opponent this weekend. A lovely opportunity to remind everyone what Army Rugby is all about!"
Tiaan Mosconi: "The brothers are ready and hungry to take the field against Life. The path to where we want to be is going to be difficult, but good. The focus remains on our best performance and trust in our ability to play our game."
Andrew Bardak: "We are super excited for the challenge that lay ahead. Life is a good team that cares about winning and we are prepared for a very tough game on Saturday. We are also prepared to have our best performance of the season and we trust each other going into this game.
