Track and Field Wins Four Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point track and field team cleaned up in awards winning four of the six awards.
Mikayla Cheney brought home Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Week, Trey McGinnis won Rookie of the Week on the men's side, Cameron Smith won Men's Field Athlete of the Week, and Brian Matthews won Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Brian Matthews:
Matthews furthered his conference lead in the 400H with a second place finish at the Virginia Challenge with a new PR of 50.92. Matthews is now number two all time at Army in the event. The senior also led of the men's 4x4 to a third place finish at the Virginia Challenge to a new season best time for the relay squad at 3:09.43
Cameron Smith:
Smith built upon his conference lead in the hammer throw with a new season best of 65.98m to take second at the Virginia Challenge.
Trey McGinnis:
McGinnis ran two season bests this Saturday to take the win in both the 400m and 200m at the Bucknell Team Challenge with times of 48.16 and 21.31 respectively. McGinnis now ranks second in the league in the 200m and fifth in the 400m, the highest ranking freshmen in both.
Mikayla Cheney:
Cheney put up impressive performances this weekend, as usual, placing 9th in the 1500 at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 4:27.25, and 14th in the 800 with a time of 2:12.98
