Track and Field Wraps Up Opening Day of Patriot League Indoor Championships

BOSTON – It was a strong first day at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, as the men's team ended the opening day of competition in second place, while the women's team is in third.
Saturday saw Army earn four first-place finishes, while adding another three third place results. The men's team sits in second with 47.5 points. The women have 42 points, which is good for third.
Women's Results
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Sabrina Sardar, Alma Lazo Cazares, Mikayla Cheney and Skye Chambers stole the show with a time of 8:38.57 to win gold. The time is a school record and Patriot League record.
It wasn't just the relay team who had success on the women's side, as Charlotte Richman finished first in the 5000m with a time of 16:29.88. Also finishing on the podium was Claire Lewis with a time of 16:46.61. Olivia Reed finished third in the long jump with a personal best mark of 5.92m.
In the weight throw, Emilia Labruyere finished fourth with an impressive distance of 18.01m. Kiana Emerson (17.25m) and Jordan Hecht (17.21m) also had top 10 results, finishing in sixth and seventh place.
Men's Results
Like the women, the men's 4x800 meter relay team of Parker Harris, Todd Worth, Ammon Smith and Kasen Jeitz edged out Boston for the win with a time of 7:28.39.
Robby Manse, who has had a dominant season thus far, won the weight throw with a mark of 20.61m. He will compete in the shot-put tomorrow afternoon. Calvin Bowens also had a strong showing, finishing fourth at 18.58m.
The other men's podium finish came from Carlos Posey, who was third in the long jump with a distance of 7.17m.
Sunday
The final day of competition will see a variety of field and track finals, with Army looking to climb up in the standings. Things will kick off at 11 a.m.
