Softball Set to Take on Central Connecticut

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point softball team (10-27, 6-6 PL) is set to travel to New Britain for a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Central Connecticut (19-11, 8-7 NEC).
The games will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ starting at 2:00 PM, with live stats available for fans to follow along here.

Army claimed another Patriot League series win over Lafayette last weekend. They took game one 6-2, lost the second game 3-2, and won the third game 5-4.Â
Game One:Â
- Army's starting pitcher, Amanda Eaglin, had a strong first inning, allowing only one hit and no runs.
- In the bottom of the first, Army took an early lead with RBI singles from Parker Llantero and Ashton White, among others, bringing the score to 5-0.
- Eaglin maintained her solid pitching in the second inning, keeping Lafayette scoreless once again.

- Lafayette managed to score two runs in the top of the sixth off an RBI double.

- Lafayette scored in the top of the third with an RBI single, narrowing Army's lead to one.
- The game became a pitching duel with no scoring until Lafayette took the lead in the top of the sixth.
- Despite Army's relief pitcher Lauren Levendoski striking out all six batters she faced, Army couldn't score again, losing to Lafayette 3-2.
- Army initially led with an RBI from Julia Farris in the first inning.

Central Connecticut and the Black Knights have a limited history, having crossed paths only 15 times since the beginning of both programs.
Army presently holds the series lead at 10-5, with their initial encounter dating back to 1979.
Their most recent clash occurred in 2015 when the Blue Devils bested the Black Knights, securing a decisive 8-0 victory.
TEAM AND PLAYER NOTES
Amanda Eaglin received Patriot League Honorable Mention recognition for her outstanding performance in the Lafayette series. In 7.1 innings, she earned two wins, tallied seven strikeouts, and allowed just two runs.
Pitcher Lauren Levendoski made her first career start and pitched her most innings in the Lafayette series. She also smashed her career high in strikeouts, amassing six.
Following their series win, Army has climbed to the third position in the conference standings.
Kayla Edwards now sits in the top four in batting average with a .389 average and leads the team in total hits, ranking fourth in the Patriot League with 49 hits.
Ashton White holds a .349 batting average with 38 total hits and leads the Black Knights in RBIs with 26.
Turning to the pitching staff, Amanda Eaglin leads Army's pitchers with three wins this season, maintaining a 3.68 ERA and holding the most starts for the Black Knights.
Breanna Izzo also has four wins as a pitcher and leads the team in total strikeouts with 41.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTÂ
Page Stringer and Ava Cinco are currently tied for the team lead in total hits, each accumulating 34 so far this season.
Stringer boasts 28 RBIs and eight home runs entering the game, while Cinco has contributed 21 RBIs along with five home runs.
Central Connecticut has utilized three different pitchers this season.
Kaylee Whittaker leads the pitching rotation with 15 starts, securing the most wins with nine and maintaining the lowest ERA at 2.78.
