LAST TIME OUT
In a midweek non-conference single game, Army faced off against Fordham and suffered an 8-1 defeat.
The first three innings saw both teams unable to score.
Army's starting pitcher, Katelyn Flanders, limited the Rams to just one hit, while Fordham's Bailey Enoch held Army to two hits.
Fordham seized the lead in the fourth inning with two runs courtesy of consecutive home runs by Sydney Wells and Eva Koratsis.
The Rams extended their lead with three more runs in the fifth inning and added three more in the seventh.
Army managed to avoid a shutout in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring their lone run with an RBI by Mia Bonsignore.
Samantha Sims, Ellie Caldwell, Lauren Little, Julia Farris, Kayla Edwards, and Emma Murchison each contributed one hit for the Black Knights in the game.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Lafayette and Army, long-time Patriot League rivals, have a history of match ups. Army currently leads the series at 88-22.
Their last encounter was in the previous season, where Army claimed victory in two out of the three games. The Black Knights secured wins of 2-1 and 18-0 in the first two games, while the Leopards narrowly won the final game with a 5-4 scoreline.
TEAM AND PLAYER HIGHLIGHTSKayla Edwards received Patriot League Honorable Mention recognition for her outstanding performance in the Holy Cross series. The senior went 8-for-11 at bat, hitting two home runs and driving in five RBI. Additionally, she recorded three stolen bases and drew two walks.
In a recent victory, Mia Bonsignore smashed her first career home run, while Ashton White achieved a personal best with four RBIÂ in another game.
Following their series sweep, Army has climbed to the fourth position in the conference standings.
Kayla Edwards maintains her position in the conference's top five with a .385 batting average and leads the team in total hits, ranking fourth in the Patriot League with 44 hits.
Ashton White holds a .333 batting average with 33 total hits and leads the Black Knights in RBIÂ with 24.
Turning to the pitching staff, Breanna Izzo leads Army's pitchers with three wins this season, maintaining a 4.58 ERA.
Amanda Eaglin boasts the lowest ERA among Army's starters at 3.85 and has made the most starts for the Black Knights.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTÂ
Lafayette enters the series with a 3-25 record and occupies the last spot in the standings with a 0-6 conference record.
Sophomore first baseman/pitcher Megan Coyle leads the Leopards in RBIÂ this season with 11.
Mary Grace O'Neill tops Lafayette's charts with 31 total hits and holds the highest batting average for the team at .341.
Pitcher Jacqueline Cal leads Lafayette in appearances and shares the most starts, featuring in 16 games and starting nine. She currently maintains a 4.93 ERA with 17 strikeouts and 23 walks.
Morrigan Gardiner has appeared in 14 games and started seven, recording the most strikeouts for the team with 32. She holds a 5.76 ERA.
