Baseball Drops Friday Game at Georgia State

DECATUR, Ga. – A four-run bottom of the sixth proved costly for Army West Point Baseball at Georgia State.Â

After taking a 3-0 lead heading into the frame, the Black Knights (5-6) surrendered a quartet of unanswered one-out runs to the Panthers at GSU Baseball Complex Friday, as Army would go on to fall 5-3.

Starting pitcher Mike Ruggieri tossed five and a third innings, allowing no runs and just one hit before the Panther sixth-inning rally. The New Jersey native also struck out six batters.Â

CF Braden Golinski got Army on the scoreboard first, with a solo home run in the top of the second. LF William Parker made it 3-0 in the sixth, with a two-out, two-run single to score Derek Berg and Golinski.

Andrew Berg came out of the bullpen to pitch 2.2 innings, allowing one run and striking a pair of Panthers out.Â
