Â
» Army is coming off a signature 13-2 win over Air Force, in seven innings Saturday in Sugar Land, Texas. Matthew Ronnebaum got the complete game win with seven strikeouts. Army improved to 12-2 in its past 14 games against service academy rivals, and have won three of its past four against Air Force.
Â
» Army's 13 runs were the most against a fellow service academy since defeating Air Force 17-2 on Feb. 15, 2019. And Army's six-run fourth inning was the highest single-inning scoring output against a service academy since April 1, 2013, when the Black Knights scored six in the eighth inning at home in a 14-7 win over Navy.
Â
» The one-two punch of RHPs Mike Ruggieri and Ronnebaum was on display last weekend in Sugar Land. Ruggieri allowed no runs over seven innings Friday against LA Tech, striking out six and taking a no-hitter into the seventh against the unbeaten club, a night before Ronnebaum earned the win against Air Force. Ruggieri and Ronnebaum combined to allow a batting average of just .111 over the weekend.
Â
» Ruggieri and SS Chris Barr were each named to the Battle at the Ballpark All-Tournament team. Barr went 7-for-11 on the weekend, with the shortstop also drawing a trio of walks while going 2-for-2 against Air Force Saturday.
