Track and Field Wrap Up Day One of Knights Invite

ORLANDO – The Army West Point track and field team competed in day one of the Knights Invite at UCF.

The day began with Kayley Ragazzini throwing an impressive 55.77m in the hammer throw to finish third in the event. Cameron Smith followed it up on the men's side, throwing a 63.59m to come in second place.

Brooke Stratman took home the win in the javelin, throwing nearly six meters further than second place with a toss of 50.06m, breaking her own school record. Alexah Zaczynski came in fourth at 42.42m.

Brian Matthews kicked off the track events for the men by finishing fourth in the 400H. Mikayla Cheney and Joanna Halfhill each had top five finishes in the 1500m, running a 4:25.08 and a 4:27.22 respectively.

Melissa Jachim came in second in the steeplechase and was the top collegiate finisher, running a 10:57.07. Ava Bushaw also had a second place finish. She ran a 17:28.53 in the 5000m.
