Army Men & Women Sit in Second Following Day Two of Patriot League Swim & Dive Championships

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Army West Point swimming & diving sits in second place in both the men's and women's competition following day two of the Patriot League Championships hosted at Navy.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS | THURSDAY RESULTS
Both Army teams were in third following day one and made up ground on day two behind stellar performances from Molly Webber and Wes Tate to each win the 500 free while Joey Kling won the men's 200 IM.
Beginning with the 200 medley relay, the Army women had a strong start for the team with a second-place finish via a mark of 1:40.21 through Layne Peterson, Aurelie Migault, Melinda Zhang and Meghan Cole. The men were also able to medal in the event with Alex Edwards, Kohen Rankin, James Pinter and Owen Harlow logging a 1:25.46.
In the women's 3M dive, Ava Ramirez led the Black Knights with a fourth-place finish and score of 274.25. Minh Donnell also made the A final and placed fifth, just behind Ramirez with 269.65.Â
Day one was highlighted by a program record and first-place finish for the women with a 7:10.60 in the 800 free relay. Molly Webber anchored the quartet that featured Clara Williams, Migault and Zhang as the Army women finished the day in third place (176) while Boston University (212) sat in first. On the men's side, the Black Knights placed second in the 800 free relay as Edwards, Thomas Hadji, Wes Tate and Ian Tansill recorded a time of 6:24.18. The men also sat in third following the first day with 110 points while Navy led with 120.
Army had a dream start to the day two finals, winning both 500 free events. Beginning with the women, Molly Webber defender her title in the event with a new program record mark of 4:46.38 while Clara Williams joined her teammate on the podium in third-place. Webber also recorded an NCAA B-Cut time with her mark. After setting his own program record in the prelims earlier in the day, Wes Tate continued to dominate the event with a new Academy record of 4:17.79. Tate was 2.93 seconds ahead of the second-place finish as Ian Tansill landed in third to once again give Army two on the podium and two with B-Cut times.
In the 200 IM, Army had a one-two finish with Joey Kling (1:45.70) narrowly beating out Alex Edwards (1:45.99) for the title as both posted NCAA B-Cut times. Kohen Rankin and Bruce Bannister were each less than a second behind to also land in the top-five in the event. On the women's side, Migault continued to pace Army in the event with a third-place finish via a mark of 1:59.65 which was less than five-tenths off the winning mark. Catriona Gilmore landed in fourth place for the Black Knights with a 2:00.05.Â
Army posted a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 free, with Owen Harlow (19.77) leading the way with a B-Cut time while Meghan Cole got on the podium for the women with a 23.01. The men's 1M dive also took place on Friday, with Isaac Newman leading the way with a score of 349.10 which placed him in third while David Manelis (347.95) finished in fourth.Â
In the 400 medley relay, the women came within .22 seconds of the win but placed second with a time of 3:37.47 as Peterson, Migault, Zhang and Webber contributed once again. The men landed in third-place (3:09.79) behind Kling, Rankin, Riley Groves and Ben Vorthmann.
Following day two the Army men sit in second place at 520.5 while Navy leads the way with 570.5. Army's women have compiled 448 points which is also good for second-place behind Navy's 502.
The action will return tomorrow with prelims at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. while finals once again kick off at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow will see champions crowned in the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, women's 1M dive and 200 free relay. All the events can be streamed live on ESPN+ with results available via the MeetMobile app.
