Women’s Basketball Stumbles on Road to Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point women's basketball team (11-13, 8-6 PL) fell on the road to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (15-10, 7-7 PL), 77-60. Army gave up 32 points in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game.
How It Happened
Lehigh's Maddie Albrecht dropped a season-high 28 points, on 10-13 shooting to pace the Mountain Hawks' 77-point outburst over Army. Lehigh shot 47.4% from three-point (9-19).
In the opening quarter, Army struggled shooting from the field, shooting just 3-15 (20%). Army's defense was solid and kept them in the game, forcing eight turnovers as Lehigh led 15-8 after one quarter.
The Mountain Hawks opened a 14-point lead early in the second quarter when Colleen McQuillen connected on her second three-pointer of the evening.
Army trailed by 13 at the 4:43 mark in the second quarter but got hot, going on a 9-0 run, including a three-point play by Trinity Hardy in what became a 17-4 run for Army to take a one-point lead into halftime.
During the scoring run, freshman Fiona Hastick nailed a three to pull Army within one, 28-27 with under a minute to go and then Reese Ericson connected from deep with five seconds left for Army to take its first lead of the night and into the locker room, 30-29.
Hardy led all scorers with 14 first-half points.
In the third quarter, Army and Lehigh traded blows for the first several minutes as Hastick hit a tightly contested three to knot the game up at 39-39.
Hastick would finish with 15 points, on 5-12 shooting, making three three-pointers.
From there on, it was all Lehigh as they went on an 11-0 scoring run which featured three three-pointers by Albrecht, Gracyn Lovette and Whitney Lind to push the Mountain Hawks back up, 50-39.In total, Lehigh piled on 32 points in the quarter, shooting 11-15 from the field and 6-8 from three as they doubled up Army in the scoring column 32-17 in the third quarter.
Army entered the fourth down 14.
Army got the lead down to 11 but could not make a substantial dent into the Lehigh lead, falling 77-60.
Hardy led Army with 22 points (8-15 shooting) with seven rebounds.

- It was Trinity Hardy's third game this season scoring 20 or more points.
- Hastick has scored in double figures in three straight games, her first such streak of the season. In that span she is averaging 18.3 points per game and is shooting 9-21 from three-point range (42.8%). She has made three or more threes in her last two games.
- Freshman Camryn Tade made her second consecutive start.
