Softball Falls to Rutgers to Complete Tournament

Miami, Fla. – The Army West Point softball team (0-10), completed the final game of the Panther Invitational on Sunday morning, falling to Rutgers (6-4), 9-0.
The Scarlet Knights put up six runs in the first two innings to jump out to a commanding lead, 6-0.
Rutgers' Katie Wingert had an RBI single in the first and an RBI double in the second in what was a 3-for-3 game for her.
The game was delayed in the bottom of the third for about 30 minutes for rain, but play would resume.
Rutgers scored two more in the fourth and the game would be completed by run-rule after five innings.
Sophie Smith and Caitlyn Newburn had Army's two hits.
Amanda Eaglin (0-4) took the loss for Army. Freshman Lauren Levendoski and Olivia Farris would pitch in relief.
