Softball Drops Two Games on Saturday to #10 Duke

Miami, Fla. – The Army West Point softball team (0-9), dropped both games of its doubleheader, squaring off against the Duke Blue Devils (8-1) in both contests by a score of 8-0 in each game.
Game 1 vs. Duke: Duke's Claire Davidson accounted for the first four RBI of the game as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead, hitting a two-run single in the first and a two-run home run in the third. Duke would score three more in the third inning in what was a five-run inning.
Duke's Francesca Frelick would hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it 8-0.
Army's Julia Farris hit a double in the second inning.
Kaitlyn Flanders (0-1) made her first collegiate start for Army, only working one batter before Olivia Farris entered to work two innings, yielding six hits and four earned runs.
Game 2 vs. Duke:
Duke's Ana Gold homered to left center and Kelly Torres hit an RBI double in the first inning as the Blue Devils jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
Army's Caitlyn Newburn doubled to right field in the second, but could not capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
Duke's Aminah Vega joined the party hitting an RBI double in the fourth and then hitting a solo homer in the sixth. Vega was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Army starter Amanda Eaglin (0-4) worked 3.2 innings, getting tagged for 10 hits, and five earned runs.
Up Next: Army will play one final game Sunday morning at 9am vs. Rutgers to close out the Florida stay.
