WORCHESTER, Mass. – The Army West Point men's basketball team (10-17, 6-8 PL) picked up its fourth win in a row Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center against Holy Cross (8-19, 5-9 PL).
TJ Small continued his incredible season with 19 points with five made threes. Entering this season, the Louisiana native's career high was nine points. This season he has now had 11 games with 10 or more points.
After a back and forth first few minutes, the Black Knights snagged the lead and never looked back.
Behind Josh Scovens 10 first half points and Small's nine, the Black Knights took a 32-22 lead into the break. The swarming Army defense held the Crusaders to 26.9 percent shooting from the field and 13.3 percent shooting from three in the first 20 minutes.
The second half was more back and forth with the Crusaders mounting a small comeback. Every time it felt like Holy Cross would have the momentum on its side TJ Small would respond with a massive shot to flip the game back for Army.
Isaiah Caldwell also had his best game of the season, pouring in seven clutch points to go with three boards.
Scovens finished with 12 points, six boards, and two assists as he continues to stake his claim as the best freshman in the Patriot League.
Charlie Peterson was dominant down low, putting up eight points and a game-high eight boards.
The Black Knights will look to make it five in a row at home on Wednesday, Feb. 21 against Lehigh at 6 PM.
