Softball Falls to Oregon Sunday; White Named to All-Tournament Team

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Army West Point Softball team (0-5) fell to the Oregon Ducks (4-2), 12-1 on Sunday morning in the final game of the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Army starting pitcher Amanda Eaglin (0-2) held the Ducks at bay through the first two innings of play but they struck for three runs in the third inning on a two-run double by Ariel Carlson and RBI single by Kedre Luschar. Eaglin worked 2.1 innings, yielding three runs on two hits, while walking three batters.
Army would answer in the bottom of the third on an RBI sacrifice fly by Ashton White that platted Ellie Caldwell to make it a 3-1 game.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Ducks bats came alive in the fifth striking for nine runs on 10 hits to push out to a 12-1 lead. Oregon used four different run-scoring extra-base hits to keep the inning going as the game ended after five innings.
Army's Lauren Little was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored.
Following the tournament, sophomore Ashton White was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic 2024 All-Tournament Team, hitting .429 (6-14), across five games over the weekend having a HR, 2 2Bs, 7 RBI and scoring two runs.
Up Next: Army will be back in action in Florida next weekend (Feb 16-18), this time in Miami participating in the Panther Invitational playing against Rutgers, Duke and FIU.
