Army loses tough contest to St. Joseph's

West Point, NY – Army West Point Men's Soccer team dropped Friday's contest against St. Joseph's by a score of 3-2.

How it Happened

Army started off strong getting great scoring opportunities and pressuring offensively. The best chance came early in the 15^th minute as Junior forward Brandon Bryant was awarded a penalty kick. Hawks keeper Trevor Jackson was able to make a big save to keep it knotted at zero. The rebound came right back out to Army defenseman Nick Atkinson and he sent it just over the crossbar as action continued to pick up.

The offensive pressure for the Black Knights finally paid off in the 17^th minute and they booted one toward the goal causing a Hawk defender to knock it into his own net.

St. Joseph's responded in the 31^st minute as forward Blake Driehuis scored his first of three goals in the matchup.

Less than a minute later Gage Lyons put in a gritty goal off a beautiful pass from Nick Atkinson giving Army the 2-1 lead.

As the game went into the later stages, there was back-and-forth action until the 74^th minute when Black Driehuis netted his second of the day tying the game at two.

The final goal of the game which put the Hawks in the lead 3-2 came from a Black Driehuis penalty kick, completing the hat trick in the 82^nd minute and closing out the game.

The Black Knights' next matchup will be on Monday at home as they take on UAlbany at 6:00 PM.
