September 12, 2023 | Men's Soccer
West Point, NY – Despite being down to ten men for the last 68 minutes, the Army West Point Men's Soccer team beat the Great Danes of UAlbany Tuesday night by a score of 1-0.
How it Happened
The game saw little scoring, with no goals scored throughout the first half. However, the action picked up and tensions rose as time went on. The Black Knights were issued a quick yellow card in the 5th minute.
Keanu Likewise made his first collegiate start and earned a shutout, making some unbelievable saves along the way. He kept the ball out twice in the first half to keep it tied going into the half.
The first and only goal of the game came in the 56th minute from captain Cooper Warren on a penalty kick.
Likewise made three incredible saves, two of them off back-to-back shots to keep the Great Danes scoreless and close out the game.
Head Coach Brian Plotkin shared his thoughts on the game saying, "A complete team effort. All 29 guys had a part in this win. They showed their competitiveness, were connected and gave their all and then some. A gritty experience for us and we will prepare now for Bucknell on the weekend."
Army's next matchup will be at Bucknell on Saturday at 7 PM.
