BERLIN, Conn - The Army West Point golf team is tied for eighth on the leaderboard after round one of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate at Shuttle Meadow Country Club.

The Black Knights finished round one with a team score of 293 (+9) and are tied with Fairleigh Dickinson on the leaderboard. Fairfield sits at the top at 8-under as a team after the first day. DJ Francey of Columbia and Fairfield's Anthony Naples share the individual lead at 4-under par.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
• John Heckel Jr. led the Black Knights with an opening round 71.
• He was 1-under making the turn to the back nine with a pair of birdies and finished the day with a trio of birdes.
• Samuel Kim shot a 2-over par 73 in his first action of 2023 with three birdies as well.
• Patrick Song finished his first round of the season as well and posted a 3-over 74 with four birdies.

The Black Knights return to the course tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for the final round.
