Brigid Duffy Named USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American as Only Freshman On List

SPARKS, MD - Army West Point women's lacrosse freshman Brigid Duffy has been named a Second Team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Duffy stands as the lone freshman to make one of the three All-American teams, while marking the first time an Army athlete has been named an All-American. Duffy was an ILWomen Midseason All-American Honorable Mention while also landing on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List this season.
Duffy was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and an All-Patriot League first team selection after leading the conference in goals (50) and goals per game (3.13) through the regular season. She currently sits on 55 goals scored and 24 assists, making her Army's single-season points record holder with 79 and counting. Duffy burst onto the scene for the Black Knights in the midfield, winning the conference's Rookie of the Week honor on five occasions throughout the season, along with a Midfielder of the Week nod. In addition to her goal-scoring prowess, Duffy was all over the field for the Black Knights, also ranking in the top-ten in the league in ground balls with 34 and draw controls with 85. She also leads the Black Knights in caused turnovers with 17, and was instrumental in Army's clearing efforts throughout the season. With her 55 goals, she ranks first in the country in goals among freshmen. Duffy scored five times with two assists in its win at #19 Jacksonville before going on to pour in a career-best seven goals in Army's 17-15 win over Boston University. She went on to log at least three points in 15 of Army's 18 games this season, and most recently assisted on the game-winning goal in double-overtime to defeat Navy in the Patriot League semifinal. She was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team after leading Army with eight points total in the tournament while logging a team-high four points in the Championship.FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
