No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Readies for No. 7 James Madison in First Round of NCAA Tournament

HARRISONBURG, VA - No. 14 Army West Point women's lacrosse (15-3, 8-1 Patriot League) will play its first ever NCAA Tournament game on Friday at 2:00 p.m., taking on host No. 7 James Madison (17-2. 8-1 AAC) in an NCAA first round matchup on ESPN+.

Last Time Out

Army fell by a score of 13-8 in the Patriot League Championship to Loyola.
Army won 13 of 24 draw controls, marking the second time this that Loyola has lost the draw control battle.
Brigid Duffy led the Black Knights with four points through a pair of goals and assists.
Duffy was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team along with Kathleen Sullivan, Cathleen Parker and Julia Franzoni.

Brigid Duffy was recently named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American, the only freshman to earn recognition on the list.
Duffy and Sullivan were each named to the IWLCA Northeast All-Region Second Team.
Franzoni and Jolie Riedell joined Duffy and Sullivan as first team All-Patriot League selections.
Duffy set the program record for points in a season with 29 through 55 goals and 24 assists.
Allison Reilly has scored a goal in nine straight games and now ranks fourth on the Black Knights with 44 points this season.
Franzoni ranks fourth in the conference with 112 draw controls and second on Army with 38 goals.
The Black Knights rank 12th in the country with 16.28 draw controls per game.
Lindsey Serafine ranks second in the Patriot League with a 10.06 GAA. Serafine made a career-high ten saves in Army's semifinal victory over Navy.
Army ranks sixth in the country with 34.11 shots per game.
Army joins Marquette and Sacred Heart as first time attendees to the NCAA Tournament.
This marks the first meeting between the two programs.

Scouting the Dukes

James Madison bookended its season to this point with losses, winning all 17 games in between. The Dukes were defeated 9-8 by Florida in the AAC Championship game.
The Dukes are led by Tewaaraton Award finalist Isabella Peterson offensively, who ranks third in the country with 78 goals this season.
James Madison ranks third in the country allowing just 7.26 goals per game.
Mairead Durkin leads the defensive effort, ranking fifth in the country in caused turnovers with 43.
The Dukes defeated Rutgers on the by a score of 14-7 on April 23rd while Army defeated the Scarlet Knights by a score of 10-5 on February 25th.

The winner will advance to the second round and take on Maryland/Drexel on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
