Men's Tennis Splits Doubleheader With Hofstra & NJIT

WEST POINT, NY - Army West Point men's tennis (16-10, 4-0 Patriot League) grabbed a victory over Hofstra before falling to NJIT on Sunday from Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Army won the doubles point against the Pride, securing wins on both courts one and two. Nathan Jose and Jake Huarte started it off for the Black Knights with a (6-3) victory before A.J. Woodman and Jack Hanna clinched the point with a (6-4) win on court two.
Moving to singles, Huarte made quick work of his opponent on court three to grab a (6-2, 6-4) win which gave Army a 2-1 advantage. With three singles matches going a third set, A.J. Woodman came back from a set-down on court one (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) to give Army a 3-2 advantage. Needing one more victory, Marcus Sebastian clinched the victory on court five with a (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) win to give Army its fourth straight tally in the win column.
Returning against NJIT, Army once again took home the doubles point to jump ahead 1-0. Vishnu Bodavula and Samuel Eden cruised to a (6-1) win on court one before Huarte and Jose went to a deciding tiebreaker on court three. The duo collected their second win of the day, posting a 9-7 win in the tiebreak to give Army the point. The Highlanders responded on the singles courts, winning the first four matches to claim a 4-1 win.
