Women’s Tennis Defeats Lehigh 5-2 in Regular Series Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point women's tennis team (20-8, 5-2 PL) defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (5-10, 2-5 PL) 5-2 in their regular series finale Saturday afternoon at UIrich Varsity Tennis Courts. Army's Elizabeth Gilbert, Jenna Sabile, Ylan Duong, and Paige Herremans each won their singles matches.
How it Happened
The Black Knights took the doubles point. Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans defeated Megha Dania and Anushka Dania in the first position 6-2. In the No. 2 spot, Army's Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile bested Bella Peters and Hamsa Javagal 6-2. In the third spot, seniors McKinnley Smith and Anna Loureiro defeated Junmoke James and Allyce Gaborik 6-4.
In the singles matches, the Mountain Hawks made it a 1-1 match, after Hamsa Javagal defeated Cooper Jackson in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 3-6). In the second position, senior Elizabeth Gilbert bested Megha Dania in two sets (7-5, 6-1).
In the No. 3 spot, Army Jenna Sabile competed against Lehigh's Allyce Gaborik. In two sets, Sabile defeated Gaborik 6-1, 6-3. In the fourth position, Emma Sy faced off against Junmoke James. James won the first set 6-3. Sy forced a third set, after besting James 6-3. In the third set, Hames defeated Sy 7-5, making it a 4-2 match.
In the No. 5 spot, freshman Ylan Duong came from behind, defeating Anushka Dania in three sets (2-6, 6-2, 6-1). In the sixth position, Army's Paige Herremans competed against Helena Cilella. In two sets, Herremans bested Cilella 6-0, 6-3.
